COVID-19: Coronavirus Preparedness

The health and safety of our co-op community is our highest priority. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the country, here are some of the actions The Merc Co+op is taking to help protect both you and our employees.

We will closely monitor guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Preventionand local health officials around the country. We will continue to rely on their recommendations and expertise to inform our decisions.

Based on that advice, we are:

  • Increasing the frequency and rigor of cleaning and sanitization in our store and offices.

  • Ordering up on high demand items, such as cleaners and sanitizers. Though certain items are out of stock from our distributor, we will do our best to keep alternatives on the shelves.

  • Communicating our preparedness plan to staff which addresses their own wellness as well as potential changes to operations.

  • Remaining open for business. We hope that you feel safe, comfortable and welcome.

Your friends at The Merc Co+op understand that this issue is cause for concern to many, and we offer our deepest sympathies to those who have already been affected. As circumstances continue to develop, we will make our decisions with the health and well-being of our members, customers, employees and community as our highest priority.

If you wish to contact the co-op for this or any reason, please email us at ownerservices@themerc.coop or call 785-843-8544.

Being able to serve as a reliable resource for food and supplies during inclement weather, crisis and otherwise is a role we proudly accept as grocers. If we can keep our doors open, we do. Your co-op remains open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week. Contact the co-op at 785-843-8544 or ownerservices@themerc.coop.
