Spencer Museum of Art: Days of Creativity
Get creative this spring with the Spencer Museum’s Days of Creativity during public hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Schedule a visit to the galleries on one of these days to experience our exhibition "Healing, Knowing, Seeing the Body." Then take home an activity kit to continue exploring themes of health and the human body.
A variety of campus and community partners will contribute to the materials in each bag. Activities will be different each week, so visit as often as you like! Visit our Facebook event page for a full line-up of the Days of Creativity partners and activities.
Veggie of the Month: Beets
The ancestor of the cultivated beet is the wild sea beet, which grew in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
The whole beet plant is edible? From the tips of its leaves to the tips of its roots.
The biggest beet on record: 156 lbs
Betanin, which is derived from beetroots, is used to color tomato paste, sauces, candy, breakfast cereals, ice cream, jams, and jellies
Beet juice can indicate the acidity of a solution. If a solution turns pink when beet juice is added, it is an acid. If it turns yellow, the solution is alkaline.
