More Ways to Shop Local
It’s the start of local season! The Merc Co+op’s commitment to increasing access to local foods and products is not just a whim, it is written into the Ends that have guided our co-op for over 45 years. Through a variety of new and extended partnerships, we are offering even more opportunities to #shoplocal in KCK and Lawrence!
Visit The KCK Farmers Market
The KCK Farmers Market is moving its Downtown Market to our co-op’s parking lot at 501 Minnesota!
The 2021 season will offer three market days at two locations: Wednesdays and Saturdays at the co-op, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. (or sell out) and Sundays at 4020 Rainbow Blvd.
“Healthy, affordable food is always essential to keeping our city healthy and thriving,” said Stephanie Moore, KCKFM Board Chair. “KCK Farmers Market is committed to making good food available in our community.”
Operating one store in Lawrence, KS since 1974, The Merc Co+op opened its second location in KCK in July of 2020. “Our unique business model puts the needs of community members first. The vision is to create a welcoming, multicultural urban market, offering a variety of products that include conventional, local and organic choices,” said Rita York Hennecke, General Manager of The Merc Co+op. "Inviting local farmers' markets and CSAs to share our space brings our vision - of being a community hub for healthy food - to life!"
The first few weeks of the market will be a “soft opening” with a small number of vendors. The season will launch Sunday, May 16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rainbow Boulevard location. Please wear masks and maintain six feet of distance from other vendors and shoppers.
