Local Season

It’s local season! From tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and cucumbers, to summer squash, melons and peaches - make the most of the abundant produce our farmers have to offer this month. This produce is perfectly ripe and delicious; and, when you put locally grown and raised food on your table, you become part of a sustainable local food system.

Look for the local label and support our neighborhood farmers!

  • Apples: Early Gold from Beisecker Farms - earliest apples of the year! They are delicate, so find them in the refrigerated section.

Get To Know Your Producers

The Merc Co+op’s commitment to providing local foods and products is not just a whim, it is written into the Ends that have guided our co-op for over 40 years.

We work hard to build strong business relationships with local farmers and producers. The $1.8 million that we spend yearly on purchasing products that are grown, raised or made within 200 miles of The Merc Co+op directly supports our local economy. When you purchase local products from the co-op, you become part of these local social and economic networks that we work to create.

The local farmers who grow our local produce and raise the animals that supply our local meats, milk and eggs utilize sustainable and humane production methods that are in the best interests of workers, animals and the earth. When you put locally grown and locally raised food on your table, you become part of a sustainable local food system.
