The Merc Co+op's Board of Directors is comprised of nine co-op owners, elected by the owners to represent them. There are usually 3 seats available each annual election and terms last three years. Any co-op owner can run for a board position!
The board works closely with the General Manager, who provides them with regular reports on store operations - finances, customer satisfaction, and more. The board doesn’t make operational decisions (like what specific products we carry, or overseeing co-op employees); in other words, they don’t have to be grocers to participate on the board! Their role is to monitor and guide the vision of the co-op and progress towards that vision.
This year, 5 candidates are running for three available seats on The Merc Co+op’s Board of Directors.
