Juneteenth — also known as Freedom Day or Jubilee Day — is a holiday that celebrates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Effective June 17, 2021, President Biden signed a bill to establish Juneteenth as a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
